Looking Forward to the Future

2 Corinthians 1:8-10 – (8) We were really crushed, we were overwhelmed, and we feared we would never live through it. (9) We saw how powerless we were to help ourselves. But that was good, for then we put everything into the hands of God who alone could save us, for he can raise the dead! (10) And God did help us, and he saved us…and we expect him to do it again, and again!

Philippians 3:13 – No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to [the future] what lies ahead.

Looking Forward to Your Future

The fact that you were born means that God has a purpose for your life.

You are not an accident.

3 Lies the Enemy Wants You to Believe

1.  Lie – You Are UNFORGIVABLE

2.  Lie – You Are UNLOVABLE

3.  Lie – You Are USELESS

Temporary failure is part of moving forward.

God is more concerned with lasting healing in our lives than He is with short-term feelings.

How Do You Let Go of Your Past?

1.  Close the DOOR to Your Past

God’s GRACE is bigger than your SIN.

1 John 1:9 – But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Your standing with God is determined by RELATIONSHIP, not RULES.

You are not what you’ve done – You are who God says you are.

John 1:12-13 – (12) But to all who believed in him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (13) They are reborn – not with physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but birth that comes from God.

2.  Step Into Your FUTURE

God SAVES you from your past, so you can STEP into your future.

Your story is not a story about your FAILURE, but about God’s VICTORY.

Philippians 3:12-14 (NLT) – (12) I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I h ave already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. (13) No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to [the future] what lies ahead. (14) I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
