Caught Up

Caught Up

1 Thessalonians 4:17 – Then we who are alive and remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will be with the Lord forever.

We will be CAUGHT UP to meet the Lord in the air.

When Is All This Going to Happen?

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 – (1) When is all this going to happen? I really don’t need to say anything about that, dear brothers, (2) for you know perfectly well that no one knows. That day of the Lord will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. (3) When people are saying, “All is well; everything is quiet and peaceful” – then, all of a sudden, disaster will fall upon them as suddenly as a woman’s birth pains begin when her child is born. And these people will not be able to get away anywhere – there will be no place to hide. (4) But, dear brothers, you are not in the dark about these things, and you won’t be surprised as by a thief when that day of the Lord comes. (5) You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. (6) So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. (7) For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. (8) But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. (9) For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. (10) He died for us so that we can live with him forever, whether we are dead or alive at the time of his return. (11) Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

1 Thessalonians 5:9For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

God Did Not Appoint Us To Suffer Wrath

James 5:8You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.

Titus 2:13…while we wait [look] for that blessed hope – the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 1:10… and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead – Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.

He is Coming To Rescue Us From the Coming Wrath

John 14:1-3(1) “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. (2) My Father’s house has many mansions [rooms]; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

He will take us to be with Him where He is.

2 Peter 2:5-9(5) …if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; (6) …if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; (7) …and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (8) (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard) – (9) if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18(13) Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like others, who have no hope. (14) For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in him. (15) According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. (16) For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. (17) After that, we who are still alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. (18) Therefore encourage one another with these words.

Encourage One Another With These Words:

“We will be CAUGHT UP to be with the Lord forever.”

Acts 1:11“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

Philippians 3:20-21But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Acts 8:39When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly [caught up] took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.
