How to Change Your Family Tree
Psalm 141:3 – Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
1. Worship Changes EVERYTHING
John 4:19-24 – (19) “Sir,” the woman said, “you must be a prophet. (20) So tell me, why is it that you Jews insist that Jerusalem is the only place of worship, while we Samaritans claim it is here at Mount Gerizim, where our ancestors worshiped?" (21) Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. (22) You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. (23) But the time is coming – indeed it’s here now – when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for [seeking] those who will worship him that way. (24) For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
Jesus has time for anyone whose life is not perfect, but realizes that HE IS!!!
2. Worship Gets God’s ATTENTION
John 4:21 – Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem."
We MUST lead people to an experience – a worship experience.
3. I Become More Like What I Worship
John 4:23 – The time is coming – indeed it’s here now – when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.
4. Worship is Something God Seeks
John 4:23 – The Father is seeking those who will worship him that way.
5. Worship Can Cause God to Change His Mind
Matthew 15:21-28 (NLT) – (21) Then Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre and Sidon. (22) A Gentile woman who lived there came to him, pleading, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! For my daughter is possessed by a demon that torments her severely.” (23) But Jesus gave her no reply, not even a word. Then his disciples urged him to send her away. “Tell her to go away,” they said. “She is bothering us with all her begging.” (24) Then Jesus said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep – the people of Israel.” (25) But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, “Lord, help me!” (26) Jesus responded, “It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.” (27) She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their master’s table.” (28) “Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed.
